METHANE AND NITROGEN OXIDE
The 12 liter bottle oceanographic provide to make many analyzes. At the even stations Merche takes samples for other greenhouse gases: methane and nitrous oxide. Samples will be analyzed at the IIM in the Vigo using a chromatographic method. Hence the need to preserve them so that they arrive in good conditions at home.

Encapsulating: the flasks where these samples are taken, have a rubber stopper. Then, they are sealed with aluminum capsules. If you look the vials look similar to penicillin.
El jab: The samples are poisoned with mercuric chloride to kill organisms and so to prevent the uptake of nitrogen and carbon until analyzed.
Putting the saucepan: When samples are to room temperature, a paraffin bath is given to plug the hole where pricked mercuric chloride.
Paraffin: And now the end of this operation once the samples are paraffined.
