TOTAL INORGANIC CARBON

The carbonic system variables are pH (we talked about it several days ago), partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2), alkalinity and total inorganic carbon.  Given two of these variables we can calculate the other two by means of some equations. During this cruise we have measured all these variables. Today we talk about the total inorganic carbon.

FLASKS DESIGN: Samples were taken for total carbon at the even stations in these glass flasks with caps design of the same material. We do not show Rosita on this occasion. Sure that you remember her. The box arrived at the vessel emptied of its original content.

THE LIQUORER: At Monica does not like out in the photos, but this time does not escape. Here, she is placing a sample to analyze the total carbon with this instrument called AIRICA which was designed and manufactured by Ludger Mintrop, whom we dedicate this picture. AIRICA measures the carbon with a gas analyzer called LICOR. Not think badly here we do not drink liquor.
